14. März 2018 · It’s a matter of opinion whether Rachel is “an Elle MacPherson kind of pretty” or not. She certainly looks more like Elle MacPherson than Catherine Zeta-Jones or Michelle Pfeiffer, but to me she’s really more of a “Lorelai Gilmore kind of pretty”.
I’m just gonna say it, Rachel is pretty but she’s not Elle McPherson pretty 🤷♀️. I caught my breath when Rachel appeared on my screen. That amazing smile with cheekbones and that curly hair. She's gorgeous and her character seems really warm. I'd take her over Elle any day.
Elle was also known as a more "sporty" style model - she was fit and toned looking, rather than waifish. Of all the supermodels of the day, she'd definitely fit the brief of being an outdoorsy, yet impossibly attractive archetype.

Rachel used to live in Stars Hollow and dated Luke, around 1995. While Sookie relays that they were truly in love, she surmised that maybe Rachel's personality didn't suit small town life, as she is very adventurous in spirit. Rachel returns to Stars Hollow to see Luke again, and also helps Lorelai Gilmore and Sookie find the Dragonfly Inn.
Luke fears getting close to her again because she left him before. She apparently gets bored in Stars Hollow and enjoys being in new places. She is a photographer. She leaves Stars Hollow for good in the Season 1 finale, because she believes Luke is in love with Lorelai and tells him "not to wait long."
