The reaction furnace converts 60-70% of H2S to elemental sulfur in the thermal stage. Multiple catalytic converters with Claus Catalysts increase sulfur recovery beyond 95% in the catalytic stages. A TGTU further reduces the sulfur content in the Claus tail gas to meet more stringent requirements on sulfur emissions.
27. Mai 2024 · Catalysts. BASF’s Catalysts division is the global market leader in catalyst technologies. The division develops and produces process catalysts and battery materials, and offers base metals sourcing, recycling and management services.
BASF provides the most extensive line of Claus Catalysts in the industry. They offer non-promoted and promoted activated alumina, along with two different Titania catalysts. They also provide SRU -specific Active Bed Support which provides additional Claus activity.
BASF Active Bed Supports (ABS) are uniform spheres of activated alumina produced by BASF's unique manufacturing process. Their primary use is for top and bottom bed support in adsorption units. The product can also be used in catalytic applications where activated alumina is beneficial to the process. Product Applications
Sulfur Recovery Units (SRU) convert unwanted hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and sulfur dioxide (SO 2) to elemental sulfur. This is done most often using the Claus process. SRUs are essential parts of natural gas plants, refineries and smelters, where large amounts of H2S is produced.

This is done most often using the Claus process. SRUs are essential parts of natural gas plants, refineries and smelters, where large amounts of H2S are produced. The quality of the Claus Catalyst is critical for maximizing the performance of the SRU. BASF has the most extensive line of Claus Catalysts in the industry.
BASF Catalysts and Adsorbents portfolio has been used to reduce harmful emissions from gas plants, refineries, and petrochemical plants throughout the world. Sorbead® is used to dehydrate CO2 for Carbon Capture and Storage.
