5. Aug. 2022 · On Sunday, I visited the Mariposa Museum in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. They are showing an exhibition of the work of the Senegalese fine-art photographer Omar Victor Diop.
It was built in 1931 by Bethlehem Shipbuilders at Quincy, the United States for the Oceanic Steam Ship Company of Los Angeles. During World War II it was used as a troop transport. In 1954 it was purchased by the Home lines, renamed HOMERIC and used on the North Atlantic and Caribbean trade routes.
In two locations -- Oak Bluffs, MA and Peterborough, NH -- the Mariposa Museum and World Culture Center fosters peace, equity, and human understanding through exhibits and programs that engage the senses, mind, and heart.
