Las enfermedades MPN están consideradas enfermedades raras. La mielofibrosis primaria (MP) afecta a 5-7 casos por millón de habitantes y año, la trombocitemia esencial (TE) a 1,5 casos por 100.000 habitantes y año, y la policitemia vera (PV) a 4-6 por millón de habitantes y año.
